Take a Break – pause to refresh

Contemplate the Water, Sun and Sky

Even though this is a still picture, when I stare at it, the water seems to move. This is Wheeler Lake, part of the Tennessee River, so it is constantly moving. Let your eyes focus on the water and see what I mean.

I’ve just been taking a break, and I highly recommend it. For our vacation this year, we spent time at a lake near a forest, and a city with a river running through it. There were many great photo ops, which this blog will be sharing through the next several months.

Get away right where you are

If you are not able to get away, I encourage you to take advantage of losing yourself in the Nature that I share in my photos. Imagine the sounds, the breeze, even the summer heat and the insects. This summer was my first experience with Cicadas – they can be so loud, but hardly ever seen. What a mysterious insect. All the mysteries and wonders of God’s creation are well worth our time to contemplate. Psalm 19:1 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of God’s hands.

Every morning and evening, I step outside to see the sky in fuller view than can be seen from the window. This constantly changing scene restores my hope and reminds me that just as the sky continually morphs, and the leaves turn colors and fall to the ground, our world will eventually return to equilibrium.

Be on the lookout for beauty

August is my typical vacation month, and it’s also my birthday month. I will turn 75 very soon. That tells me that it’s OK to take a little break. Maybe you need one too. Try looking over my past posts to find more beauty to contemplate.

Peace to you, my friends, and please share with us the ways you find peace in this troubled world.
